los arcos
i left beautiful lorca this morning around 7;30 and i stumbled into los arcos around 4 pm today. i followed my own (and more recently, my husband´s) advice and took lots of breaks. when i was home, i said i would take breaks each hour, but i have had a hard time dropping my ambitiousnature, playing at competitive pilgrimage, as my pilgrim friend john put it. he is walking with his mom, and they gave me a cookie in the woods the other day. that sounds like code for something, but it is actually exactly what it sounds like. anyway, it was easier for me to stop and rest, and i was rewarded by crossing paths with john and rose, his mom, and later with jenny and kim, the two young ladies i met the coming down the pyrenees, and hang out with in loraseano. we all walked together for a while. a first for me as i have been just enjoying walking alone so much. now i have ice for my knees, i´ve done my wash, and there is jazz playing softly in this brightly lit common room. ahhhhh, camino life. more some other time, my time is just about out on this computer. just know i am doing well, and thinking of you.

Nice to hear you taking a break. This is not a speed walking pilgrimage. It sounds like you are meeting many kind hearted people, or maybe it's just that you bring that out in people. And it works both ways. Much love, Y/M&D

Annie, it sounds like you are hitting your stride (so to speak) on the camino. The stories of your travels have been truly marvelous to read ... keep 'em coming! Big hugs, K & E
