filming on the camino
filming on the camino has been great. it has actually been much less intrusive than i had imagined. i only see lydia evey 3 or 4 days, and i kind of forget that i am part of the documentary on the days in between. although when i think of it, i sometimes overthink it. there is also a funny dynamic that happens when i do get filmed. lydia and i only have a few minutes to talk before she interviews me, and she doesn't want to hear any of my stories before the cameras are rolling, so our first few minutes are usually her catching me up on what has been going on. mainly she talks about how she has found new, great, wonderful pilgrims. i tell her that hearing that gives me pilgrim envy, but she just laughs. today, on our day off we ate lunch at a vegetarian restaurant-yes, they do exist here! lydia got a call during lunch and took it outside. she was smiling when she came back, and i said, 'that was your newest pilgrim, wasn't it' and she smiled and said yes! it is like being the big sister who watches all the little brothers and sisters come and take the mom's attention! i feel for you, brian and sarah (my oldest brother and sister)! part of me hates seeing her get more pilgrims, but i know it is best for the documentary, and it is fun just to tease lydia and remind her that i was the first!
the stories that she has told me though, are fascinating, and i think it may end up a mini series instead of a hour long doc, or even feature length film!
that's all for now. it has been a great day of rest. tomorrow i will walk again. we are more than halfway done, and if i keep to the pace that my guide book suggests, i will be done on the 28th. i may take another day off, so that is not definate, but even so, i think that i will have time to go to finisterre for a few days before heading back home to the good ole u.s. of a!
peace and blessings to all, and once again, lots of thanks to all of you who are holding me in prayer. my walking yesterday was my best day of walking yet. tomorrow i will take my pilgrim camera once again to do my video diaries along the way, but i think i have gained in strength and can handle the extra couple of pounds that the camera weighs.
peace and blessings-

Two new blogs, a phone call and new pictures, all in one day! What an event! Reading your blogs is so interesting, so comforting, and so surprising. Somehow before you left I imagined the other pilgrims as rather serious, solitary, not-exactly unsocialble, but somewhat reserved types. It has turned out exactly the opposite! All that singing and those festive dinners! I never imagined singing. I love the picture of you and a very emaciated sculpture. I guess you're not the skinniest pilgrim after all. Much love, Y/M&D

Annie, You look like a different person in your pictures...this will always be with you. I woke up the other day talking with you and I asked you if you were on Skype and you said yes and then I woke up! The picture of the green rolling maseta looks so beautiful. Congratulations on passing the halfway point. Love, Mag

Annie,
Between your blog, and your photos, and Lydia's photos and the documentary your Camino pilgrimage will be the best documented in the history of the world!
Which is just as it should be!
I'm writing this @ 10:33PM LA time, so you must be up walking. I send wonderfully supportive thoughts and prayers your way.
The Weds night service was awesome last night. I felt you were sitting next to me, as you have so many times. Brother Ismael Tehteh spoke. Of course he was so inspiring. And it was choir Weds, so they were just fabulous. And our dear Cathy M. was beaming there up on the left.
It's funny how I can hear Rickie's songs a hundred times and yet still be surprised by certain lines. Last night the line, " . . . love in a holy, holy way . . . " jumped out at me. That is really the only way to love---in a holy way. Any other love has no depth, is not real.
So I'm loving you in a holy, holy way from the other side of this lovely earth.
peace, blessings and love always,
Tom
